Daycare!
A little bit about me and Reg
I grew up in country Victoria and completed high school in Warrnambool. In my early 20s, after tragically losing my mum in a car accident, I decided to take a leap. I packed up my little hatchback (which I still have to this day!) and drove across the Nullarbor to start a new chapter in Perth.
Not long after settling in, I began experiencing unexplained health issues and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis on my 27th birthday. Despite the diagnosis, I made the decision to stay in Perth and build a life there — and I did exactly that over the next 10 years.
In 2021, everything shifted again. I learned unexpectedly that the company I had built my career with was closing down. With six months of remote work ahead and redundancy on the horizon, I decided it was the perfect time to bring a puppy into my life. That’s when Reggie came along — and it was love at first sight.
With a big adventure calling, Reggie and I hit the road in a van. We travelled from Broome to Darwin, over to Townsville, and all the way down the East Coast to Warrnambool. It was an unforgettable journey that sparked something even bigger.
The start of Ultimutt
When I brought Reggie home, I knew he was going to be a big dog — and I wanted to make sure he was well-trained, social, and never seen as intimidating. He completed puppy preschool, two additional rounds of training, and attended doggy daycare twice a week from a young age right up until we set off on our trip. I believe this early socialisation played a huge role in shaping the friendly, well-adjusted dog he is today.
While travelling, I noticed how difficult it was to find accessible, quality daycare for dogs — especially for people on the move. Many daycares were either booked out or required lengthy onboarding processes that didn’t suit travellers. That’s when the idea for Ultimutt Doggy Daycare was born.
I wanted to create a welcoming, flexible space that catered not just to locals, but also to visitors passing through with their pups. A place where dogs could socialise, play, and feel safe — and where their humans could rest easy knowing they were in good hands. In March 2024, I officially opened Ultimutt Doggy Daycare in Warrnambool. It’s been built with passion, purpose, and a whole lot of love (and, yes — blood, sweat, tears, and savings too!). I truly believe dogs deserve to live their best lives — and I’m so proud to help make that happen, one tail wag at a time.
At Ultimutt Doggy Daycare, we provide a fun, safe, and enriching environment that’s tailored to your dog’s individual personality. Whether your pup is a social butterfly, a gentle observer, or a ball of bouncy energy, we work to ensure they’re placed in the group that suits them best — so every visit feels like their best day ever.
Our fully indoor facility keeps your pup protected from the weather all year round. We have two large social pens, where dogs are grouped by size, temperament, and play style, as well as four solo pens for dogs who need a bit of space, are still gaining confidence, or just enjoy a quieter day. Every area is clean, secure, and fully supervised by our caring team.
To make sure every dog has the best fit, we use our signature Ice Cream Behaviour System.
Each pup is assigned a fun “flavour” based on their temperament and social style. See below to learn more about our Ice Cream Behaviour categories and what they mean for your dog’s daycare experience!
Before joining regular daycare, all new pups start with a complimentary 2-hour trial session. This allows us to get to know your dog and ensure they’re a great fit for the Ultimutt crew.
During the trial:
There’s no cost, no obligation — just a chance to ensure your dog feels happy, safe, and ready to join the fun!
MiniMutt Mondays are all about the little ones! Every Monday, we dedicate the day exclusively to our small-sized sidekicks — pups under 15kg — to ensure a comfortable, fun, and safe space just for them.
Whether your MiniMutt is a confident player or still building their confidence, this day is specially designed to help them shine without being overwhelmed by bigger, bouncier dogs.
Why MiniMutt Monday?
MiniMutts can still attend other days too — but Mondays are reserved just for the little legends to enjoy the spotlight without the big-dog chaos!

At Ultimutt, we believe every dog is unique — just like your favourite ice cream flavour! That’s why we’ve created our Ice Cream Behaviour Flavours system to help us match dogs into the best playgroups based on their personality, energy, and social style.
Each dog is assigned a fun “flavour” that reflects their behaviour and helps us create the perfect mix of pups each day. Whether your dog is a mellow Vanilla Bean, a bouncy Rainbow Sorbet, a wild Choc-Chip Swirl, a selective Salted Caramel, or a learning Minty Freshie, we use this system to keep every dog happy, safe, and thriving.
If your dog falls under the Vanilla Beans category, they're gentle, easy going, and great with all types of dogs! These pups enjoy playing but are just as happy to relax and observe if that's what the day brings. They're often older or just naturally zen, making them ideal for calm groups and first-time daycare visitors.
In terms of bookings, Vanilla Beans can join us any day of the week. Since they are great with all dogs and usually prefer a laid-back atmosphere, they’ll fit in perfectly with other mellow pups. You’re welcome to book a session on any day that suits your schedule, knowing your dog will have a fun and stress-free experience.
If your dog is a Rainbow Sorbet, they are bursting with personality and love to socialize! These dogs thrive in group play and enjoy mingling with new friends, keeping the energy light and playful. They’re bouncy and full of fun but not overly excitable, making them a great fit for medium-energy groups.
Just like the Vanilla Beans, Rainbow Sorbets can be booked in any day of the week. Their social nature means they’ll enjoy interacting with other dogs and will be right at home in a dynamic, fun group setting. Feel free to book a day that works best for you – your dog will have a blast!
Choc-Chip Swirls are the high-energy, goofball pups who love to wrestle, zoom around, and engage in tug-of-war sessions! These dogs are all about physical play and need other dogs who can match their energy levels. They thrive in a structured environment with plenty of opportunities to burn off their energy.
While Choc-Chip Swirls are best suited to a set day of the week to ensure they have the right playmates, they can still be booked on other days if there is space available. However, please note that spots for this high-energy group are limited and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. If there are already too many Choc-Chip Swirls on a particular day, we may not be able to accommodate your booking.
Salted Caramels are adorable with just the right amount of spice! These confident and playful pups have strong personalities and love having fun, but they tend to be a bit picky with their playmates. They often do best in smaller groups or with dogs that have been carefully selected to match their energy and temperament.
Since Salted Caramels can be vocal or bossy, it’s important they’re paired with the right dogs to ensure everyone has a great time. If the wrong dogs are already booked in for a session, we may not be able to accommodate your Salted Caramel for that day. We’ll make sure your dog has the perfect playmates, with plenty of space and gentle leadership!
Minty Freshies are the newest pups or those still finding their paws in the world of daycare. They may be a little shy or nervous at first, but with the right encouragement and a supportive group, they'll quickly start to feel at home. These dogs prefer calmer environments and often thrive when matched with patient pals who can help them build confidence.
Minty Freshies are best suited to any day of the week, except Wednesdays, when the energy level may be too high for them. They do best in a calm, predictable setting where they can slowly get to know their surroundings and playmates. Booking a day with a quieter group will ensure your dog has a positive and stress-free experience!
